The Safari

How we hunt.

Dawn to campfire, one client at a time. Nothing rushed, nothing showy.

A Day in the Field

Dawn to campfire.

  1. 05:30

    Dawn coffee, at the fire

Boots on before first light. A short brief on the day's plan and the wind.

  2. 06:00

    Into the field

Glassing from vantages, walking cutlines. The cool hours are the productive hours.

  3. 10:30

    Brunch under a fever tree

A proper cooked meal from a bush kitchen. Rest, water, reload.

  4. 12:00

    Midday quiet

Back to camp for the heat of the day. Nap, read, tend rifles.

  5. 15:30

    Second session

Out again for the last light — often the best hunt of the day.

  6. 19:30

    Sundowners & dinner

Fire, a good meal, a slow whisky. Tomorrow's plan sketched in the ash.

Hunt Types

Four safaris under one roof.

Plains Game

The classic Lowveld safari — kudu, impala, wildebeest, nyala, zebra, warthog, waterbuck. Seven to ten days is ideal for a first-time hunter working through three to five species.

Dangerous Game

Cape buffalo hunted on foot in the traditional manner, with the option of hippo and crocodile. Longer safaris — ten to fourteen days — with a dangerous-game PH.

Management Hunts

Selective off-take of older males past prime, or specific management animals. Excellent value and useful conservation work.

Wingshooting & Clays

Driven guineafowl, francolin and doves in season, plus an NSCA-designed sporting clays layout at the Gold Valley Estate.

Groups & Observers

Small parties. Personal guiding.

We take a maximum of six hunters at any one time and prefer four. Every hunter is paired with a PH and a tracker. First-time clients are personally guided by Matthew.

Non-hunting observers are welcome and are actively encouraged — this is a proper safari camp, not a hunting lodge. Observers hunt from the same vehicle, walk the same stalks, and eat at the same fire. An observer daily rate applies.

Children of all ages are welcome in camp; we've hunted three-generation family safaris and they are among our favourite weeks of the year.

The Concession

One country. Endless bushveld.

We hunt our home concession in the Lowveld of Mpumalanga, on the edge of the Kruger National Park [VERIFY]. It is classic subtropical thornveld — mopane, marula, knobthorn, leadwood — cut by seasonal rivers and long, low ridges.

The country hunts big. From camp you might see two hunters walk out in different directions at first light and not cross paths again until sundown.

Access to additional concessions is available for specialist species — sable, buffalo dagga boys, particular management animals — arranged through long-standing outfitter relationships.
